Tired of losing, Zombies throw an 8-way "listen to me" party

Heh heh, the more I look the more I find about the Zombies ever-loosening grip on reality and accelerating loss of connection with their members. Tonight's entry comes from San Francisco Bay Guardian reporter Rebecca Bowe. Perhaps the most interesting part of the article is the indication that with more experience comes perspective, allows one to see things for that really are and make an informed opinion/decision. I wonder if the employee with a whole year under his belt at the time of the trusteeship knows how much things have changed in UHW since the it was forced on us.  A sudden and disastrous change after 29 years is much easier to notice than after 1 year.

The Zombies are the undisputed champions of wasting members' dues money: “I don’t understand why we’re spending money on a picket when we already have a contract.” Contrast that with Richard Gutierrez statement that “we are a united front … united to work against management.” If fighting with management is all that he sees in union membership then he really has know idea what being in a union is all about.

  1. What I find most disturbing about this article is that Damita Davis-Howard has the nerve to say that "This was devastating", referring to Newsom's plan to resolve the budget crisis in San Francisco. Howard-Davis' comment is both hypocritical and disgusting since she funneled hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dues dollars to support SEIU's raid on homecare workers in Fresno last summer. She also ordered dozens of 1021 staff to campaign for this anti-union practice.

What members should remember in the upcoming election is that the position for chief elected officer, the position that Damita is running for, is that she and her union representative met with the CEO of Alameda County Superior Court and secretly agreed to force court workers to pay for a portion of their health, vision and dental benefits as well as increases in co-payments. Rank and file had no input in this backroom decision.

SEIU opened the door for management to decrease benefits last year when they made a backroom deal affecting healthcare workers in the city of Alameda.

NUHW RISING! UNITE HERE RISING! SEIU DIMINISHING!

  2. SEIU hasn't said one word to homecare workers here about us getting fingerprinted or anything else and now the IHSS caseworker says that there are more budget cuts but they don't know how much.
what's going on? Why aren't they telling us and did you know our dues went up?
